USA Today reports 1 in 7 drivers are uninsured
In Larry Copeland’s USA TODAY article “One in seven drivers has no insurance” he discusses the climb in uninsured drivers in association with the rise in unemployment. Uninsured drivers do effect the rates which insured drivers pay. The percentage of uninsured drivers varies from state to state (Massachusetts & Main: 4.5% – Mississippi: 28%). South Carolina ranks 37th on the uninsured motorist list with 10.7% (2009 study by the Insurance Information Institute).
